Demystifying Internet Marketing

  • SumoMe

In my last post I wrote about some of my trials and tribulations in my Internet Marketing journey and now I want to move on and share some of the difficulties that I have faced, (particularly motivation and ability to focus) and try and help you to understand Internet Marketing better, but also to understand why everyone wanting to succeed in today’s world of work should embrace the internet and gain understanding of the importance of computers in that world.
Back in June 2012 I wrote about a video presentation that was being regularly viewed on You Tube called ‘Shift Happens’. I you wish to see it, it is still available here, but I will present some of the facts below:
1. If you’re one in a million in China . . . There are 1,300 people just like you. In India, there are 1,100 people just like you. (The population in China is 1,364,470,000, in India 1,244,140,000 whilst in the USA it is 318,047,000 and in the UK 63,705,000).
2. The 25% of the population in China with the highest IQ’s is greater than the total population of North America. In India, it’s the top 28%. (That means they have more kids with high IQs than there are kids in the USA)
3. China will soon become the number one English speaking country in the world.
4. If you took every single job in the U.S. today and shipped it to China . . .China would still have a labour surplus.
5. In the 8 minutes it takes to read and digest this post, 60 babies will be born in the U.S.A.
244 babies will be born in China and 351 babies will be born in India.
6. The U.S. Department of Labor estimates that today’s learner will have 10-14 jobs by the age of 38.
7. According to the U.S. Department of Labor 1 out of 4 workers today is working for a company they have been employed by for less than one year. Over 50% are working for a company they have worked for for less than five years.
8. According to former Secretary of Education Richard Riley the top 10 in-demand jobs in 2010 didn’t exist in 2004.
9. We are currently preparing students for jobs that don’t yet exist, using technologies that haven’t been invented, in order to solve problems we don’t even know are problems yet!
10. Did you know – The U.S. is 28th in the world in broadband Internet penetration. (Penetration is the percentage of a country’s population that are Internet users).

    Hey John!
I found reading this post incredibly fun and informative at the same time. You have condensed statistical research into just a few points. I think we all need to read this kind of stuff to keep ourselves well-informed.
